This one plays music!

In April I was once more dogsitting for my work manager and his wife. Dog sitting gives me the chance to hang with good boys and girls, understand a bit more why my manager is like that, and stop by the Fitchburg Goodwill.

The last time I was at this Goodwill a small girl kept trying to steal dolls from my hand and hit me. It was a game to her. She ran off and at some point an employee returned her to me. When she started hitting me again the employee asked me if she was my child.

“I have no children.”

The employee looked embarrassed and then distracted the girl with a flower crown so I could run to the register.

I will use your cheapest conditioner to untangle my creature’s manes. It’s fair. Last time they said I could use the washer and dryer and I learned they’d left the country 9 days earlier with wet laundry still in the washer.

This was made before I’d advanced my hybridization with making silicone molds and casting faces. I was still using actual Barbie faces sliced from the source.

I was also constantly testing to make sure it still lit up

The upside of this new unicorn is that her mane was in good shape and i wouldn’t have to crack her open and replace her hair. I thought this would save time, and it did.

That time was promptly eaten by carefully masking off all the clear stars and star trails before painting

Mask to prevent swallowing Apoxie Sculpt Dust when sanding.

Time to mask the mane/tail and prime.

Primer!

You’ll notice that I’ve removed primer from the face. Soft PVC plastics can often react poorly with the chemicals in spray primers/spray paint, creating surface tackiness or slight ooze.

This is one of the reasons I now cast faces in plastic.

Airbrushed, hand painted, and unmasked

Always the perfectionist I felt her hair was still a bit janky.

Salon time

….and with that it was time to hit the backyard for glamor shots.
